The Opportunity

As the Union Payroll Accountant, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Be responsible for assisting in the preparation of weekly Union Payroll and monthly Union reporting in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with the US Department of Labor, State, and Local guidelines
  • Have weekly coordination with various Black & Veatch departments to ensure end-to-end processing is completed
  • Work under frequent supervision

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in processing weekly Union Payrolls
  • Assist in completing and filing monthly Union reports
  • Coordinate with Human Resources and Construction Field Timekeeping to assure accurate information is provided as it applies to the Recording of Time
  • Close communication with Management
  • Submits manual journal entries to the GL Accounting team
  • Work with IT to secure assistance with special reporting needs
  • Work closely with the payroll team to complete monthly Union reporting
  • Assist fellow Payroll co-workers on Payroll processing tasks as time permits

Support Functions

  • Assists with additional payroll processing and special projects, as assigned

Primary Internal Clients

  • Payroll team, HR, Accounting, Timekeeping, and Construction Field team

  • Experience in Union reporting
  • Knowledge and understanding of Fringe Benefits and Burdens
  • Experience in Payroll processing

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience
  • Typically 2+ years related experience
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote
  • Typical office environment. Extensive keyboarding, no travel, limited overtime.
